In December 2025, Norway saw a decline in the number of people registered as unemployed, decreasing to a seasonally adjusted figure of 63,800 from a revised 64,800 in November. This represents the lowest unemployment level since July, accounting for 2.1% of the labor force. Unemployment rates dropped across most professional sectors, with academic, teaching, and health-related fields experiencing the lowest unemployment rate at 0.9%. Conversely, the tourism and transport sectors registered the highest jobless rate at 3%. On a regional level, Troms and Nordland boasted the lowest unemployment rates at 1.1% and 1.5%, respectively, while Østfold faced the highest rate at 2.8%. In the same month, 23,800 job vacancies were posted, averaging 1,900 openings per working day, marking a 1% decrease from the previous year. Job postings remained concentrated in fields such as health, nursing and care, retail and sales, service professions, and other sectors. When examining non-seasonally adjusted figures, the number of fully unemployed individuals increased slightly to 62,400 in December, up from 62,000 in November.
