2026.02.0314:20:38UTC+00Baltic Dry Index Falls for 2nd Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors shipping rates for transporting dry goods, experienced a decline for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, decreasing by approximately 4.5% to reach 2,028 points. This decline was largely influenced by the larger vessel categories. Specifically, the capesize index, which commonly transports substantial 150,000-ton loads such as iron ore and coal, continued its downward trajectory, dropping over 7% to 3,175 points. Similarly, the panamax index, which typically handles cargoes of 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased by 1.4% to 1,724 points. Conversely, the supramax index recorded a rise of about 1%, reaching 1,083 points.
